Strawberries love slightly acidic soil (ph 6 to 6.5).
There are many ways to raise the acidity of the soil. A simple way (I love simplicity), is to gather pine needles / branches fallen from a pine tree. Pine needles are acidic.
Place pine needles under and around your strawberry plants, so as they break down into the soil, the acidity of the soil will increase.
I also find the pine needles make a good mulch – suppressing weeds & keeping strawberries off the wet, moist ground (helping to reduce fungal infections).
Do you have a tip on growing strawberries?
