Winter Citrus

Our large potted mandarin tree is full of ripening fruit.  Just like last season, the fruit is smaller than store bought varieties however SOOOOO much sweeter.  Once you start growing and eating your own fruit and vegetables,  you will be forever disappointed with produce purchased at supermarkets.

We have decided to extend one of our front rose gardens to add citrus trees.  We will actually remove the established thorny rose bushes as they are a safety issue for our little one (they will go to a good home – a friend in our town wants them for her rose garden).

Orange, mandarin and lime trees will be planted along with new thornless varieties of roses and other country cottage flowers.  I will do some research and plan the garden extension and upgrade – add the plan to paper which I will share with a future post.  This now will be a project for Spring when soil temperature warms up.
